The progressive sidecut and signature swallowtail offer excellent edge hold on hardpack while allowing the tail to sink naturally in powder. Ready to ride anything from groomers to bottomless days, the Surfer delivers a dynamic, fun experience across all terrains.

Shape

Outline Shape

Nose Sidebase Uplift

High

The gradual side base uplift in the nose determines how the board will behave on snow. Most affected are the edge to edge performance and the uplift generated when riding powder.

Tail Sidebase Uplift

Low

The gradual side base uplift in the tail determines how the board will behave on snow. Any amount of uplift brings all the benefits of Triple Base Technology making our boards more versatile than others.

Camber Profile

Low Camber

Camber profiles are defined from low to high. Higher camber make for more dynamic boards that need to be ridden more aggressively to get maximum performance. Lower camber boards are smoother on lower speeds and in powder. All camber profiles run from nose to tail. Higher is not always better...

3D Shape

3BT™ & Sidekick™

Combining the responsiveness of traditional tip-to-tail camber with the dynamic shaping properties of Triple Base Technology and the performance boosting Sidekick feature makes for a 3D snowboarding experience like no other.

Features

Technology Technology

At the heart of every Bataleon is a combination of 3BT™ and positive camber. It’s an innovative solution to the profile puzzle that minimizes the potential for edge-catch without sacrificing ollie power or carving performance. From this starting point, we fine-tune each element according to the boards desired riding style.

3D shaping 3D shaping

SideKick™ builds on the concept of Triple Base by increasing the sidebase uplift just outside the widest points of the nose and tail. The tips become more like a hull, boosting float in deep snow and slicing through crud. It also helps the board to roll quickly and evenly from edge to edge.

Construction Construction

Supertubes™ are hollow carbon cylinders that are inserted directly into the core. They reinforce the camber, reduce weight and greatly increase pop. By varying their location we can fine-tune the board’s performance further.

Construction

Glassing Glassing

Tri-Ax Lamination

Our three-way fiberglass weave is light, strong and crazy responsive. We use this to beef up the flex pattern on our more aggressive boards.

Woodcore Woodcore

Super Ultra Light Core

Our lightest core features an 80/20 blend of Paulownia and poplar for the ultimate in featherweight response.

Base Base

Nano Speed S

The fastest base money can buy, produced using race-grade ISOSPORT 7000 P-tex.

Sidewalls Sidewalls

Flex Walls

Our Urethane Poured Sidewalls offer exceptional shock absorption, reducing chatter and vibration for a smoother, more stable ride. Flexwalls provide flexibility and resilience, allowing the board to maintain its integrity even in extreme conditions. With superior impact resistance, they ensure your snowboard performs at its peak, season after season.

Inserts Inserts

24 Inserts

A-grade German stainless steel inserts make sure you are locked to your board. These high quality inserts can take years of binding stance switches.

Layup & Laminate Layup & Laminate

Carbon Stringers

Our tried and true carbon layups. We've used them in different areas to fine-tune the feel of each model.

Tech Tech

D.R.S.T. SuperTubes

Dual Radial Super Tubes, similar to DST but with four extra Super Tubes (six in total) running parallel to the board radius, delivering extra power to the edges.

Shape Shape

Powder Hull

An advanced evolution of the traditional swallow tail design, the Powder Hull creates a “snow exhaust” effect that amplifies all the benefits of a classic swallow tail. This innovative feature adds more power and drive to the tail area of the board, boosting control and speed in deep snow. Additionally, it enhances overall floatation, allowing you to glide effortlessly through powder with improved stability and performance.

Topsheet Topsheet

Step Down Rails Top 3D

This topsheet 3D effect features a slight taper of the deck along the top of the sidewall. This reduces the top-profile, saving weight and adding more precision to your carves.

Best Board Ever

The Bataleon Surfer is an absolute weapon if you’re looking for a board that turns the whole mountain into a playground. From the first run, this thing just floats. The massive nose and tapered shape make powder days effortless — point it downhill, lean back a touch, and it surfs through deep snow like it was built for it (because it was).

What really sets the Surfer apart is Bataleon’s 3BT™ (Triple Base Technology). It makes edge-to-edge transitions smooth and forgiving, especially for a wider, volume-shifted board. You can slash turns, butter the nose, and lay trenches without feeling like the board is going to hook or punish you for getting loose. It’s surprisingly nimble in trees and bowls for how floaty it is.

On groomers, the Surfer still holds its own. It’s not a full-on charger, but it carves way better than you’d expect for a powder-focused shape. The medium-stiff flex gives it enough backbone to stay stable at speed while still feeling playful when you want to mess around. Side hits, wind lips, and natural features are where this board really shines.

Bottom line: the Bataleon Surfer is perfect for riders who want that surfy, laid-back feel without sacrificing control. If you live for powder days, love slashing turns, and want a board that makes every run more fun, the Surfer delivers big time. It’s the kind of board that makes you wish every day was a storm day.

One of the coolest boards ever!

Man I don't know where to start. I was just needing a board for super deep powder days but this board has excelled in many areas. For one its hard to not look like a badass riding this thing. It turns lots of heads and sparks lots of conversations. I'm size 10 us men's 5' 7" and about 140 pounds and I'm on the 159. I tend to like more aggressive board so sizing up a little was no big deal for me. Maneuvers incredibly well in tight east coast glades, and on a groomer it holds an edge very well and can even deal with a bit of ice an chunder. you will feel a littler reverberation form the nose but it dissipates before the front foot. Turning is predictable and locked in and is capable of long drawn out carve or quick aggressive ones to shoot up some powder. The swallow tail does it job of encouraging the tail to sing and make exiting turns dynamic and reactive. The float on this is amazing, and was nearly unsinkable. I got so comfortable on this board by the end of the season, and being on park crew, i had to take it into the park. it does really well on jumps and has nice rebound and it able to amplify the energy you put in to boost you past lips. While not recommended at all, I was board sliding 40ft tubes, and doing half-cabs onto rails with this too. Here's a video of m slaying some east coast powder at Saddleback on it.

Surfer 149 with astro bindings

Crazy fun board, used it for icy morning groomers as well as slushy spring noon snow. Both amazing, not to mention I was the coolest looking snowboarder on the mountain. :p

Driving innovation

Couldn’t be happier with this fish tail. Typically riding a park set up (highly recommend Balaleon’s Wallie).

This snowboard completely blew me away. From the very first run, it felt unbelievably powerful yet smooth—like it had endless energy beneath my feet. The edge control was razor-sharp, carving through groomers effortlessly, but what really stood out was how it handled in powder. It genuinely felt like I was surfing on snow—fluid, floaty, and incredibly responsive. Every turn felt natural and controlled, even in more challenging terrain.

The board strikes a perfect balance between stability and playfulness. At high speeds, it stayed locked in and confident, and when I wanted to loosen things up, it responded instantly. It’s rare to find something this capable that also feels so intuitive to ride.

On top of that, the customer support was exceptional. I had a bit of a glitch after purchase and the team was quick to respond. They followed up to make sure everything was perfect, which really showed they care about their riders… THANKN YOU, JASCHA for the individual support 😎

All in all, this board exceeded every expectation I had. Incredible performance, amazing feel, and backed by a team that truly stands behind their product. Highly recommend to anyone looking to elevate their riding experience.

By far one of the most fun boards I’ve ridden. In powder it is amazing from the easiest to most advanced riding. Does incredible off of everything it’s honestly tough to write something bad about this board you really have to ride it to see. Definitely not a beginner board whatsoever. Wouldn’t recommend as a first time ripper but at the same time I did buy as a first powder board for far more advanced terrain and it’s been great. There’s a lot I’ve see about durability with Bataleon boards which in all fairness isn’t all wrong but at the same time it’s the same with any board. You beat it up then what do you expect. I’ve obviously not ridden my surfer with too much care since I don’t want to only hit small features and easy lines. I’m ready to eat it and don’t expect it to be perfect but it is really really close to that. To sum this review up if you want something that is going to be super fun and easy to ride all day and can take you off the biggest to smallest features in powder this it is. Same with on groomers this thing is amazing its so nimble if you have good board control and is stable at very high speeds.(Also does pretty well in park not going to lie even landing and riding switch). I love this board and you should too. It’s worth the investment if you know you’ll get the use out of it. (Bought the 24/25 model and couldn’t be happier). I’ve held off on a review until getting into bigger and better terrain and can confirm Kicking Horse loves this board.

Wonderfull board

Super fun board. Amazing float in powder, smooth and surfy feel and really easy to ride fast without feeling sketchy. Makes every run more enjoyable. One of my favorite boards I’ve ridden.

Improved

This thing rips....I wanted to give 4.5 out of 5...Bataleon don't rest!...Had 21-22 (white with orange outline) now have 24-25 model. Holds a great edge. Tail feels stiffer but pop feels about the same. I kinda miss the older style tail slapping slush up in the air like annoying skiers...haha. Torsional flex is sick...dialed...This new re-design rides well with a bit better shock absorption. Please improve the longitudinal flex and dampening. Maybe increase the swallow cutout some more or decrease the "hull" length. Overall a great ride.

The name says it all

I rode this on a 35cm blue bird powder day and I can't say enough good things about it. Floated through pow and charged through chunder like nothing. Turns were very flowey and the board wanted to land perfectly off of every side hit and jump I took. Groomers she's pretty stable and rips down no problem. Very happy with this board and I'm sure the new gen is just as good if not better

First day out on it. She goes hard. Great board in deep pow, choppy tracks and groomers

Great board but but laking damping + week build

Ugh, so disappointed with the new Bataleon Surfer. 😩 The build quality just isn't there anymore. Remember when their boards used to be indestructible? Feels like they really dropped the ball on durability this time. Such a bummer because this board really rips, but I have some concerns about how it'll hold up over time. The performance is there, but the build quality feels a little questionable. Hoping to see some improvements in future versions! Overall, it's a fun ride, just not sure about the longevity. Fingers crossed for some more robust construction down the line!

Snaped tail

Snaped a tail on the old surfer and now got the new one wishing its a stronger build with the 3d power basket in the tail but still after one run got to the car to notice the tail Snaped where the metal plate is ... waiting on update from warranty....

Throw some snow! Keep your knees bent and loose though..

The design is phenomenal in pow both light and heavy and slush. Carves really well and get freestylie on it! It ollies well. Only complaint is bump, rut, and icy rough snow will feed back bad through the board. Please fix the dampening Bataleon! On 21-22 model same as this years..

Old school to new school

I recently got back into snowboarding with my original Winterstick. (I've actually been surfing all my life) It's been fun, still works great. After looking through models and buying a cheap roundtail, I got the Surfer 159. I still do it the same way, backcountry with my original ice climbing pack and gaters (REI, the only tech equipment at the time,), hiking boots and small snowshoes. I'm no star, but this board is just great. Wonderful upgrade. Floats nice and fast with some stability on the turns. Very interesting the way the triple concave nose spoon eases initiation of turns

Surfer review

The Bataleon Surfer snowboard is an exceptional board that is designed to take your riding experience to the next level. This board is built with a directional shape and a setback stance that makes it perfect for carving and cruising through the mountain.

One of the standout features of the Bataleon Surfer snowboard is the Triple Base Technology (3BT) that it is built with. This technology provides a unique edge feel that ensures a more stable ride and better control on the slopes. With the 3BT, you can expect to have a smooth, effortless ride that makes it easy to turn and maneuver around the mountain.

The Bataleon Surfer snowboard is also built with a lightweight wood core that provides a snappy and responsive feel. This, combined with the 3BT, allows you to effortlessly glide through the snow and take on any terrain with ease.

The board's sintered base is also worth mentioning. This base is known for its durability and speed, allowing you to pick up speed and maintain it throughout your ride.

Overall, the Bataleon Surfer snowboard is a great option for anyone who wants a board that can handle any terrain and provide an exceptional riding experience. Its innovative design and technologies make it a top choice for snowboarders of all skill levels.

Best powder board in the universe

Been riding the surfer this season in some very good powder and it is by far the best board to do it!!!! It moves effortless with great control in the deepest conditions. The technology is great and also helps you go through more challenging terrain.....

This board save me. Backstory... I'm a snowboard instructor. I spend a ton of time riding on all sorts of boards. I picked up this board half way into the season but didn't get a chance to ride it right away. I had the day off on a perfect 20+ in. Pow Day, which was a perfect opportunity. This board rips, effortless float, race car fast (crazy fast), and carves like a surfboard. It really feels like surfing. I pow surf quite a bit and this board is the closest I have gotten to that feeling on a snowboard. Now I said this board saved me... The first day I rode it was also the last. I hit a tree at the end of the day. (My fault not the board) The board took the impact and broken between the bindings, saving my broke ass. I will be buying another Surfer, it's worth it. Such a blast.

What a great snow surf

I have been riding surfer 159 . I am 178cm and 74kg

This is the revolution of snowboard. You can do surf on a heavy snow or powder snow very easily and comfortable.

Actually surfer is do it all snowboard I think and I did it.

Groomer, carving, mogul, half pipe, terrain park everything can do.

Also very poppy flex and easy to control because of 3BT system.

Surfer 159 feels like a 151cm size

I truly recommend bataleon surfer. This is only one you must have.

Surfing on clouds

I am currently living in Japan and wanted a deep powder board, boy did I get the perfect board. I took it out to hakkoda rope way and have never had so much fun in deep powder on a snowboard. Every turn was like I was floating in the clouds. Can not recommend the Surfer enough!!!

Holy Snow Stick, Batman! This Baby Can Floooaaatt!

Wowza - This board is worth every penny! The Surfer slays powder like nothing else - but let's be honest: we expect that from an $830 swallowtail board.

What surprised me is how well this thing rides on groomers, hard pack, in dense woods, and just about anything else (note: I'm not a park rat, so I can't speak to how well it hits rails and jumps). I have an '18 Global Warmer, and honestly, I prefer the Surfer in almost every condition. It looks like a pow-only board, but you can shred anywhere with it.

I hear a lot of complaints about the price tag. I get it; $830 for a board is outside most people's budget. But if you can afford it and are concerned about the value per dollar, just shut up, give them your money, and you'll thank me later.

I've been snowboarding for 10+ years and have not ridden a board more pleasing than the Surfer. It looks sexy, rides like a dream, and takes whatever you throw at it like a champ.

Thank you, Bataleon, for making a board this wicked sick. You've truly outdone yourselves.

154 Surfer

Already have the 159 from last season which was a beast in open POW. The 154 does the same job just a bit more snappy . If you’re looking for that surfy feel with a medium flex this board is a must in your quiver!

Love this board

Super playful in the pow, has a good flex for the park, butters like nothing I've ever ridden, only downside is it doesn't handle to well in chunder.
