Have a Nice Binding
An often-over-looked piece of the puzzle, the binding plays a huge part in how your snowboard feels underfoot, and having the proper binding set up will ensure that you have the best possible experience on your snowboard.
Every snowboarder should know how to mount their snowboard bindings, and how to make quicks adjustments on the hill. Having knowledge about your snowboard binding helps to keep you comfortable and riding all day, but it also helps to keep you safe and secure.
-
1. Tighten all screws
What You’ll Need: A screwdriver or wrench Regularly check all screws that attach the bindings to the snowboard to ensure they’re tight and secure. Also, inspect the screws on the straps, buckles, and highbacks. Loose screws can cause bindings to malfunction or become unsafe. If screws are worn or stripped, replace them to avoid further damage to the bindings or board.
-
2. Inspect and clean the bindings
What You’ll Need: Damp cloth, soft brush, mild soap.Use a damp cloth to wipe down the entire binding, removing dirt, salt, snow, or any debris that has accumulated.Pay special attention to the ratchets, buckles, and the areas around the footbeds. These areas often get clogged with snow or salt and can cause malfunctions if not cleaned.
-
3. Propper Storage
When not in use, store your bindings in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or moisture. Extreme temperatures or exposure to the sun can weaken the straps and cause plastic components to degrade. If you’re storing your board for an extended period, it’s a good idea to remove the bindings to prevent unnecessary pressure on the baseplate and screws.
-
4. Replace Worn Parts
Over time, even with good maintenance, some parts of the bindings (like straps, buckles, or footbeds) may become worn out or damaged. Keep an eye on the condition of your bindings, and replace any parts that are no longer functioning properly.Have a look at our Spare Parts section
How to set-up your Bataleon bindings
1. Figure out what stance direction, width, and angles work the best for you.
2. Place your ‘tied’ boot in the binding. This will allow you to make the proper adjustments to your straps. The goal is to have them centered across your boot, so increase or decrease the length of the strap until you find the center point on both your ankle and toe straps.
3. Time to adjust the heelcup. This adjustment is critical – ensuring that you are centered on your snowboard – so that you don’t boot out on deep carves.
a. To start the process, loosen the screws that adjust your heelcup, and using your boot as guide, ensure that your boot is centered in the binding, from toe to heel.
b. Next, test your stance on the board. Place the bindings on the board in the
desired mounting locations and angles. Adjust the heelcup as necessary.
4. Now it’s time to get the bindings on the snowboard.
a. Set your discs to the correct angles and find the width that makes the most
sense for you – and loosely thread screws into the inserts.
b. Test the stance. Put your boots back into the bindings, making sure that the
binding is centered on the snowboard from toe to heel.
5. Put your boots on, step into your bindings, and make sure that both the width and
angles feel comfortable for you.
6. Tighten the screws down! Hand tightens each screw, using only a #3 screwdriver,
never use an electric screw gun or drill.
7. Routinely check your screws to make sure everything is tight and secure. No one wants
disco-foot.
