The Idea

Whether man-made or natural, the most successful designs work in harmony with the forces they are subjected to. At Bataleon, we analyzed what happens when a snowboard is put under pressure – when you jam it into a powder bank or drive it through a transition.

The answer is that it adapts its shape to the terrain. Triple Base Technology™ embraces this reality, creating a more efficient shape from the get-go. Just as the curved hull of a boat ploughs through the waves, or the wings of a plane are designed to slice through the air, 3BT™ is perfectly molded for the mountain environment.

The Shape

All our boards feature positive camber from tip to tail, combined with lifted contact points at the widest areas. This reduces the chance of edge catches while keeping the board feeling super lively. Through years of research, tinkering, and testing we have fine-tuned the way 3BT™ works alongside both the camber and the sidecut radii.

Flat Base Riding

The widest section of the board is lifted off the snow while riding flat based. This allows you to ride straight without hooking up or needing to keep your edges engaged.

3BT™ Flavors

3BT™ is not a single design but an entire shaping philosophy. Each model features a 3D profile that is tailored to a particular riding style, and performs better than other boards in its category.

Optimized for park riding, the centerbase on Jib 3BT™ is the widest in the range to give you extra stability while jibbing and pressing.

The uplift angle on our Twin 3BT™ boards is low, and begins outside the bindings for precision control with less hang-ups. The mid-wide centerbase offers a stable platform to press, load up ollies and put down landings.

The sidebase and centerbase areas are equally proportioned, with a medium uplift angle. With added length in the nose, Freestyle 3BT™ boards let you get creative across the whole mountain.

Freeride 3BT™ has a narrow centerbase and substantial sidebase uplift. The focus here is on edge control and versatility. These shapes have proven to be functional and competent in all conditions, floating better than other brands’ powder boards yet holding an unbelievable edge while carving on hardpack.

Pow 3BT™ features a narrow centerbase and maximum uplift with SideKick™ in the nose. The emphasis is on float, with an oversized nose that also offers excellent stability in rough conditions. Nothing beats these boards in deep snow, though make no mistake they hold their own on hardpack too.
